Every Inspired Peru alpaca companion begins with genuine alpaca fiber and the hands of an artisan family in Peru. Some of the most meaningful details are also the smallest — the way a face is shaped, the way an eye is set, the way a snout takes form. Made by Hand, Down to the Details is where we look closer at those details, one at a time.
Craft Story
The Art of the Face
Look closely at an Inspired Peru companion and you'll notice that no two faces are made the same way. Depending on the design, our artisans create facial features using different construction methods — each one a deliberate choice, not a shortcut.
On select designs, the eyes and snout are created entirely by hand embroidery:
Hand-embroidered eyes and snout — stitched directly into the alpaca fiber by hand. No attached components that can detach.
Each stitch is placed individually by hand, directly into the piece. It is one of the small construction details that makes a companion feel genuinely handmade — and one we're continuing to explore across the collection.
Facial construction varies by design. Not every Inspired Peru piece currently features hand-embroidered eyes — check the individual product page for the construction details of a specific companion.
